My story begins today, I hope.

I am a writer, performer, mama, wife, daughter, sister, lover of compost and fine naps.

Before today, my memoir, Amen, Amen, Amen: Memoir of a Girl Who Couldn’t Stop Praying was published by Scribner in October, 2009. I also wrote a young adult novel, Kissing Snowflakes, which is about first kisses and stepmoms. My words are in Modern Love: Tales of Love and Obsession, Behind the Bedroom Door, The New York Times, The L.A. Times, Self, Jane, Elle, Elle UK, Marie Claire, HeeB, and Redbook.

Before that I toured, wrote and performed for The Second City and ImprovOlympic. I was the voice for Elly the Talking Elephant and I paid rent with one voiceover for DiGiorno’s.

Today, I’m trying to grow pansies and working on a new novel. Sometimes I perform at different theaters in New York, and I teach writing and yoga. I’m about to make a bag of old mugs.
